Richard S. Lewis

Member of Parliament Β· Senate Minority Leader

Richard Lewis is one of the most credentialled individuals ever to enter Antiguan politics. Holding a Master of Science in Management Information Systems (Summa Cum Laude) from Nova Southeastern University and a First Class Honours BSc. from the University of Technology, Jamaica - where he received the President's Gold Medal - Lewis also holds diplomas in Accounting and Photography and spent 22 years as an educator. He created Antigua and Barbuda's first electronic management information system for schools, co-authored an IT textbook used nationally, and served as Assistant Director of Education. His 13 years as Chairman of the St. John's Rural West Constituency Branch before formally contesting the seat speak to a methodical, community-rooted approach to political leadership. Lewis was elected MP for Rural West in the 2023 general elections, vindicating years of groundwork. He currently serves as Senate Minority Leader, consistently raising legislative challenges on immigration reform, education policy, and government accountability. His constituents have a representative who combines policy depth with the credibility of having been present in the community long before any election cycle.
