Sherfield Bowen is the most credentialled professional on the UPP's entire parliamentary bench, and as Deputy Political Leader, he is the second-in-command of the opposition. Born in 1959, Bowen built an extraordinary academic and professional record abroad before returning to serve his country. His qualifications include a BSc. in Accounting (cum laude) from Lehman College, City University of New York; a Juris Doctor (cum laude) from Howard University School of Law; and professional designations as a Chartered Financial Consultant, Chartered Life Underwriter, Certified Financial Planner, and Certified Public Accountant - among the deepest financial-legal credential stacks of any Caribbean politician. He was first elected to Parliament for St. Philip's South in 1999, serving until 2004 as Deputy Speaker of the House. After nearly two decades away from frontline politics - during which he practiced as Senior Attorney at Bowen and Bowen Law Firm while remaining rooted in his Bethesda community - he returned to contest the seat in 2023 and won, defeating the Labour incumbent. Political Leader Pringle appointed Bowen as Deputy Leader, citing his "experience, wisdom, knowledge of the law, and certification as an accountant" as exactly the profile the party needed at its second-highest level. Bowen brings the rare combination of legal sharpness, financial expertise, and the personal credibility of someone who has never left the constituency he represents - a son of Bethesda who took on the world and came home to serve.
